Benefits, Disclosure, and Accommodations

Module 11: Supported Employment and Vocational Services ยท Lesson 2 of 3

The two fears that stop job searches are losing benefits and being found out.

Never guess about benefits. Route to a certified benefits counselor and help the participant prepare their questions and documents. Fear of a benefits cliff is often based on outdated information.

Disclosure is the participant's decision. Walk through what could be disclosed, to whom, when, and for what purpose, including that accommodations under the ADA generally require some disclosure to the employer.

Key takeaways

  • Route benefits questions to certified counselors
  • Disclosure is a participant choice with staged options
